What about the “fifth” wall? The ceiling is typically the first surface painted in a room and is often finished with flat white paint. However, depending on your style and features like crown molding, ceilings can also be painted to match the walls, creating a warmer atmosphere and adding depth and character to the space.

Ceiling Painting
Ceiling paint completes rooms, improves light reflection, hides flaws, and creates a clean, spacious feeling.

Ceilings don't necessarily have to be paint white, painting a ceiling can make a bold statement.

Ceiling Painting Processes
We follow the same process as we move from room to room painting house walls. Prep room, cut-in corners, roll ceiling, (direction depends on room natural lighting)
Prep the Room for Painting
Tape, paper, drop cloths are needed to protect unpainted surfaces and fixtures, nails and plates removed; cracks caulked and holes filled. Brush “Cut-In” Room Corners Use a Purdy 3" semi-stiff angle brush to cut in the corners, where the wall meets the ceiling. Rolling Out the Ceiling We use a 9" x 3/4" roller pad on a Purdy extension and roller frame. We start in a room corner and roll in parallel lines. The Second Coat – Is It Needed? If a second coat is needed, we apply it quickly at approximately half the cost of the first coat. |
When painting a ceiling budgeting a second coat of paint is usually a wise move.
