What about the "fifth" wall? When we paint a ceiling it is the first surface we paint in the room. It is common to paint ceilings with a flat white paint but depending on your style and room features (crown molding) we can paint them to match with wall paint to convey a warm ambiance, adding dimension to the room.
Prep the room
Tape, paper, plastic, drops as needed to protect unpainted surfaces and fixtures. Remove nails, plates and fixtures, caulk and fill cracks and holes.
Cut in the perimeter
We work around the perimeter of the room cutting in a 3" wide area along the ceiling to each corner with a 3" angle paint brush, then we lightly brush the new paint creating a feathered edge.
Roll out the ceiling
We then place a loaded 3/4" roller in the corner of the room and roll in one direction toward the opposite side of the room, in parallel lines. We work continuously until the entire surface is coated and allow it to completely dry before deciding if a second coat is necessary.
Is a second coat needed?
If a second coat is needed, we apply the additional coat all in the opposite direction of the first coat, working quickly and continuously until the entire surface is coated.
