The front door is the focal point for most houses and is a great place to accentuate color from the rest of the home exterior. If you have shutters it's always smart to match them to the door color as it provides a nice clean tight finish.
Because the front door is such a high traffic area it is a good idea to use an oil base paint which will withstand the constant abuse and clean up time and again without damaging the paint. |

When staining a wood door there are two options, semi transparent and transparent, from there are you can choose any number of stain finishes. Important to remember is that quality of the door is a big determining factor in the end result. While it always look a lot better a stained stock door will never look as good as a custom built front door. |
