Protecting unpainted surfaces - floors, baseboards, fixtures, and wall plates - is key to a professional paint job. Using tape, plastic, or drop cloths ensures a clean, flawless finish and makes the painting process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone.
There are always exceptions - like if your carpet is being replaced right after painting - but these steps reflect how we typically protect surfaces before starting any work, ensuring a clean, professional finish every time.

Walls. (Cut & Roll)
Our skilled painters cut clean, precise lines without taping doors or windows. Baseboards are protected, and a moving drop cloth is used to safeguard floors and surfaces while maintaining professional results. Ceilings. (Cut & Roll)
When painting ceilings, floors must be fully protected since even careful painters can create occasional roller drips. Use 10 oz. drop cloths, heavy-duty paper, or large plastic sheeting to properly protect flooring during ceiling work. Trim. (Cut-In w/ Brush)
Lay drop cloths to protect floors and surfaces, tape baseboards on floor side, and cover windowsills or door jambs. Using a premium china bristle brush, cut along baseboards, crown molding, window frames, and door jambs with steady control. Remove tape before paint fully dries, inspect edges, and touch up as needed. Spray Rig. (protect surfaces)
When using a spray rig, completely protect all unpainted surfaces: tape and paper floors, tape plastic over lighting and fixtures, remove plates, tape sockets, and use drops and paint shields as needed. |
